Raymond Allen is an American actor best known for his role as the father of Tim "The Toolman" Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement. He has also appeared in films such as The Longest Yard, The Jerk, and The Toy. Allen was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He attended the University of Tulsa, where he earned a degree in business administration. After college, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Allen began his acting career in the late 1950s, appearing in television shows such as The Twilight Zone, The Untouchables, and The Rifleman. He made his feature film debut in The Longest Yard in 1974. He went on to appear in films such as The Jerk, The Toy, and The Santa Clause. In 1991, Allen was cast as Tim Taylor's father, "Jill's father" on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement. He appeared in all eight seasons of the show, from 1991 to 1999. Allen has also appeared in numerous television movies and guest-starred on shows such as The Golden Girls, The Nanny, and The King of Queens.
